March 9, 2021:  Canada needs immigrants: To grow its economy and compete in global markets, and To expand the workforce, so there are enough people to do the jobs that need to be done, build infrastructure, pay taxes and work in and contribute to vital health and community services.  New Canadians are vital to Canada's economic growth and prosperity.
Adwoa Buahene, a former member of Rotary Toronto Sunrise and former Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, reconnected with us to tell us about her work with TRIEC - the Toronto Regional Immigrant Employment Council.
Many newcomers to Canada face barriers Canadians don't.  Many are overqualified for the work they currently do, and are not able to contribute to Canadian society at their full potential.
TRIEC's Vision is A Greater Toronto Region that prospers by fully engaging the contributions of skilled immigrants.
TRIEC's Mission is to Create and champion solutions to better integrate skilled immigrants in the Greater Toronto Region labour market.
