Jacqueline Smith from Goodwill Industries accepts a book for the Reading Circle after to speaking to the Club about the Developmental Services employABILITY Program at Goodwill.

Jacqueline is an Employment Placement Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Toronto, Eastern, Central, and Northern Ontario. Jacqueline clarified that the revenue brought in from the Goodwill community stores and outlets is used to fund the company’s core mission; which is to enable work opportunities and provide skills development to people facing barriers to employment, including people with disabilities, youth, the chronically unemployed, and newcomers to Canada. . She explained how Goodwill serves employers with their staffing and recruiting needs and detailed the various types of employment programs that Goodwill runs for job seekers, including the new employABILITY program geared specifically towards youth with developmental disabilities. Jacqueline also described the ways that individuals or groups can participate as volunteers, can host donation drives, or make monetary contributions in order to help Goodwill achieve its mission. Jacqueline hopes that by educating Rotary clubs across Toronto about Goodwill’s services, more doors will be opened for people facing barriers to employment.
